Is It Safe To Take Mifeprin And Cytolog Medication For Abortion?
I am 39 years old. My doctor asked me to take Mifeprin (3 Tablets) and Cytolog 4 tablets to carry for the abortion. I just want to know what is the risk factor? Also for your informtion I have two child aged 10 & 5. I had an ectopic pregnency on 2003 and I had to take pill for abortion on 2007. Kindly suggest me

Tab. Mifepristone followed after 24-48 hours by Tab. Misoprostol is very effective and safe medication for terminating a pregnancy up to 9 weeks of gestation. These medicines are prescription medicines. Since your doctor has prescribed them, you can take them safely.
There are no common serious side effects of the medicines. As they cause uterine contractions, pain in abdomen is experienced during the process of abortion. Very rarely, incomplete abortion is a complication which can be ascertained by ultrasonography 7 days after the medication. Such incomplete abortion may lead to continuous and/or heavy bleeding. It is always advisable to have a follow up visit with the Obstetrician 7 days after the medication.
These medicines are known to cause developmental abnormalities in the baby. Therefore, once the medicines are taken, and if they fail, the decision should not be reverted to continuation of pregnancy. In case of failure of these medicines, the pregnancy should be terminated by surgical evacuation of the uterus.
