Is It Safe To Take Morphine After 2 Days Of Stopping Suboxone?
My pain doctor just switched me from suboxone to 15mg extended release morphine sulfate, but she told me to only wait two days before taking the morphine. I read suboxone stays in your system a lot longer and it could be dangerous to take morphine too soon. What should I do?
You are right we should not take suboxone or morphine at the same time. The exact time is not known when to start morphine after stopping suboxone as there are personal variations.
We generally advise starting when certain early withdrawal symptoms of suboxone has started.
This may occur after 36 hours, so I understand it should be ok to start after 2 days as advised by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
