Is It Safe To Undertake Flight Travel 3 Months After Sinus Surgery?
Hello, i had a sinus surgery done about 2,5 months ago due to severe aerosinusitis issues. As a frequent flyer i thought the best way to get rid of it is to undergo FESS. After the surgery im feeling completely fine with no infections or any other possible problems. Im having my first flight after the surgery next week which will be almost 3 months after the surgery has been done. Is there anything i should be worried about cause im very anxious about the flight due to all the barosinusitis issues i had for the last 3 years? Thank you
It is safe to take flight after 3 months of sinus surgery provided you have been clinically examined by your surgeon and have been allowed to do so. You are suggested to get a follow up clinical examination done by your treating surgeon, get everything checked, make sure everything is fine before you take a flight. Avoid caffeine or alcohol in long flights, wear warm clothes, you should be well hydrated before taking the flight. You may want to carry a decongestant spray to use before or after descent.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
