Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I had tubes inserted in my ears 8 days ago. I am 61 years old. I live in an area where there is a lot of pollen from the trees. I am still feeling fullness in both ears, but no pain. I have gone back twice to ENT to have both ears drained. I m using Nasacort OTC. Still taking Augmentin antiobiotic from pre-tube surgery. Would it be safe to put a couple of drops of peroxide into the ears? I sing in a choir, need to sing this weekend, and it s annoying to feel as if I m hearing underwater. Thanks for any assistance.
I would not recommend you using peroxide in your ears so soon after having tubes inserted into the ear drums. There is possibility of the peroxide getting into the inner ear and causing damage.
To help reduce the pressure in your ears I would recommend using Afrin nose spray prior to singing as it may help open the ear canals and improve your hearing.
I hope this answered your question. Please contact HCM again with your health care questions and concerns
