Is It To Be Concern About Tight Feeling In Head Due To A Hit?

Today I hit my head really hard on a sharp corner. It s no biggie really, except that since that incident, my head feels tight, starting from around my injury (Located approximately two inches above my right temple) and following down my jawline. I have no bad symptoms otherwise. My vision is not blurry, my pupils are dilating fine, and I have neither a headache nor nausea. The only thing wrong is that my head feels tight. Is that okay, or is something wrong?

Hi there,
I am Dr. Deepak, I work in Emergency Department, where I see many patients with injury to their head. As you mentioned you had injured your head today on asharp corner. Since then your headache is feeling tight.
I feel you had sustained minor injury to your head, I can say that as
1. You didn't had any dizzy feeling or have blurring of vision.
2. You didn't had vomiting even though you had nausea.
3. You didn't loose consciousness.
4. You are not feeling any numbness or weakness of any one side of your body
5. You are not having any bluish discoloration around your eyes and behind the ear
6. You are not having any trouble with walking.
And the most important thing is you are pretty much okay right now.
If you face any of the above mentioned problem within 24-48 hrs, then you can show to the Doctor, who can examine you.
The tightness that you feel is because of swelling of the muscles over the temporal area due to injury. As the muscles are covered with membrane which is thick, when it swells up then it feels like tight as the swelling is restricted by the membrane.
So, you need not to worry too much, for the time being you can apply some ice packs and take some pain killers.
Thank you
Hope your concern was dealt with and hope you have a speedy recovery.
