Hi,
Thanks for choosing healthcaremagic.
Thickening of base of esophagus and top of stomach can be caused due to many conditions - it can be infective/inflammatory/neoplastic. With this thickening, we need to know your lab reports as well as more history about your eating habits, loss of weight, fever etc. With all the correlation a probable diagnosis can be reached.
When you are seeing a gastro doctor he will ask for all these and can reach to a proper conclusion. If there are doubts, he might ask you to get an Endoscopy done which will be very clear as through the endoscope we can clearly see the esophagus and gastric wall. If there is an actual thickening without any obvious cause, he will take a biopsy from it and histopathological evaluation will reveal the true picture.
Back pain and surgeries for it/pelvic pain are not related to thickening to the esophagus.
If you have more queries, you can get back to me with more details and I will be happy to help you.
Hope it sorts your problem and wishing you a speedy recovery.
