Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Liver Damage Caused By The Administration Of Hydrocodone 750 Can Be Cured?
Chronic back pain requires two/three 750/750 hydro condone a day. I also drink two-three drinks five days a week. Recently I have noticed fatigue, occasional queasiness, and clay colored loose stool. No yellowing of skin or eyes. finger nails still pink. Immediately stopped drinking and Vicodin use. Relying ONLY on ice and lidocaine patches for pain relief. Now on day four. No more queasiness, and exhaustion is subsiding. Clearly I have done some liver damage. First available doctors appt isn t for days. My question is do you think my liver is still reversible based on these symptoms.
Your clay colored stools suggest a possible obstruction of bile, either in your liver or outside of your liver, obstructing the bile duct that drains into your intestines. I would definitely assume that this is reversible, whatever the cause may be, and recommend you continue to avoid using acetaminophen or alcohol until your appointment. Once the cause is determined, you will know more about how to treat it and how much recovery can be expected.
I hope that helps, please let me know if you have any questions about any of that, and I would be glad to discuss it with you further.
Thank you.
