Is Low Dose Aspirin Healthy For Heart?

There is a study out now saying low dose aspirin for healthy people at low risk for heart attack is unwise as it may lead to clotting problems in the event of injury to the brain or uncontroled bleeding of the stomach. I ve had PVCs since my 20 s and am now 66. I m fit(swim, bike, run, hike) have 110/65 BP, 55 BPM pulse and have been taking 2 low dose aspirins per day now for 15 years. I reasoned that PVC s could slow the blood through thr heart chambers which may in turn cause clotting. Now I m thinking I ought to cut out any aspirin on a regular basis. I don t see a problem. My GP does know about my aspirin use and has not recommended against it.

hello..
taking aspirin is good for heart but there are a lot of side effects of aspirin itself..
it can cause
bleeding in brain
gastritis
bleeding peptic ulcer
uncontrolled bleeding in trauma etc..
when you are already in your near 70s i would advise you to continue but only after general examination and adjusted dose accordingly..
i would advise you to get your lipid profile EKG and D echo done..so that we know the extent of problem with your heart..
if everything seems to be normal we can cut down the dose
i mean to say go to your GP inform him about the usage get a clinical exam and necessary tests done and dose adjustment/stopping of aspirin accordingly..
take care..
if you have anymore doubts feel free to ask me i would be happy to help you..
