Is Low Testosterone Level Due To CIDP?

My husband was just diagnosed with CIDP and had his testosterone checked a few years ago and it was really low at 389 but his doctor told him it was in the normal range so he was fine. I don’t believe he is fine but Hubble won’t listen to me to further look into it. I think it would help the CIDP quite a bit. Do you know anything about testosterone and CIDP?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

CIDP is an autoimune disease, means that our own cells fight normal tissue. It has no based evidence a cross link between low testosterone and CIDP, as in this disease nerve shell is affected. I suggest to talk with your doctor about therapeutic medication of CIDP because erlier treatment is the best treatment. He may suggest prednisone or immunoglobulin therapy, depending on the disease stage! Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy must be treated early and with specialist consult.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
