I am a 50 year old male . Have chronic lower back pain, neck, hand ,foot pain. This pain, particularily in lower back has gotten so bad I am no longer able to work. Also have hyothyroidism, occular migrain(see spots] in my left eye more often than not. High blood pressure. Diareah more often than not. and most recently have borderline hepatomegaly of my liver, 12.5mm cortical cyst on my left kidney. I have been for numorous tests Ct bone scan, MRI , ultrsounds, xrays, bloodwork, etc. These test all seem to come back inconclusive as per my second family doctor. I don,t know what to believe anymore. I have recently found out, that two of these tests were not conducted properly. The ct bone scan that was to be done on my lower back, the tech didn,t make me wear a gown, rivets, and snap from my jeans were glowing on the monitor right in the area that was to be tested. The tech told me this was normal procedure. However, have recently been told that metal objects would cause images to be distorted. Another test that I had done at the same lab ( utrasound of abdomen} they caimed that I had a cyst on my liver. I had the same test done at another facillity, that found slightly enlarged liver and 12.5mm simple cortical cyst on my left kidney. How can this be? Whether it is something to worry about or not, the accuracy of these tests from one lab to another in Calgary reeks of total incompetence. I am not a doctor, however do know that there is a difference between a liver and a left kidney. My family doctor is talking about sending me for a colonoscopy to see what is causing th diahrea. Does this make any sense, knowing that the Ct scan was never done properly in the first place? I did ask my G.P. if this lower back pain could be caused by the cyst on my left kidney, was kind of a shoulder shrug. Nothing to worry about. I guess not for him, he is not the one that is incapacitated by pain.. Should I get a new family doctor? I guess what I am looking for is some kind of diagnosis or closure on these issues, whether I am ever going to get rid of this pain or at least control it so I can move on with the rest of my life. I also know that there is some osteoarthritis in my back, as well as a slightly herniated disc, and a minor posterial alighnment issue, but according to the MRI report there is no cord impingement or permanent nerve damage, meaning nothing to account for pain.I have gone for phisiotherapy, chiropractor, but doesn,t seem to help any. I have worked new hom construction, renovation all my life and has been quite physically demanding, but have been in good health up until the past couple of years. Please help. I am at my wits end. Thanks.
