Is Microscopic Surgery Advisable For CSF Leakage From Nose?
i m suffering c s f leak from left nose last since 2 months doctors say i have go for microscopic surgery along with lumbar shunt . i am having hifh blood pressure but it is in control through medication my age is 53 years and no other body problem i am having pls suggest me
Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern. CSF leakage is due to many causes. 1.trauma to head 2. sinus surgery 3. increase intracranial pressure with no obvious cause for it. If the CSF leak is small especially due to trauma to head it can be healed with rest and lumber drain which minimizes pressure on the leakage site leading to rapid healing. If the leak is more especially due to increase intracranial pressure, sinus surgery or base of skull surgery, then identifying the leakage site with CT, MRI or dye injected in lumber drain, followed by endoscopic surgical repair is the best option. I would like to advise you to go for it as CSF leak is predisposed to CNS infections and surgery has more than ninty percent success. Hope it helps best.
