Hi , I am a 45 years old female. I had a car accident in November, 2010, where the left orbital plate was smashed and my nose had multiple fractures (mainly on the left side). I had a reconstructive surgery to rectify both the eye and the nose. I was advised 3 weeks rest. After that when i joined my work, i got allergic sneezing and one day fluid started coming out of my left nostril. Doc said that was CSF leak and asked me to take bedrest for 3weeks. Now, am back to work, any time there is a slightest exertion fluid starts coming out of my left nostril. Although the amount is much less now. Pleas advice.
I recommend collecting this fluid and checking its glucose levels. If there is presence of glucose, it is CSF. In such case, I recommend consulting with your attending physician and discussing about a new surgery to help reduce the CSF leaking. In the meantime, I recommend regular vaccine for flue and pneumococcus in order to prevent possible meningitis.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
