Is Mixed Population Of Lymphoid Cells An Indicator Of Possible Lymphoma?

I had a fine needle aspiration of the left neck lymph node (submental). Lab report indicates negative for carcinoma . However, descriptive diagnosis states Mixed population of lymphoid cells. Cannot rule out lymphoma. If lymphoma is a clinical consideration, resampling with submission of material for flow cytometric analysis is recommended. Please explain. Is mixed population of lymphoid cells an indicator of possible lymphoma?

Hello,

If FNAC result negative for carcinoma then no possibilities of lymphoma. You can get an MRI neck done for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhanu Partap, Cardiologist
