Is Moderate Right Hydronephrosis And Enlarged Spleen Normal During Pregnancy?
Hi, I am 30 weeks pregnant and I have just had an ultrasound done. It showed that I had moderate right hydronephrosis as well as a slightly enlarged spleen at just over 12cm, is this a normal finding in pregnancy and will it resolve after the birth? Thank you.
Hello dear,I understand your concern. In my opinion right hydronephrosis might be pregnancy related because the uterus leans more towards right pressing on the right ureter leading to right hydronephrosis. It might subside after delivery. But it might lead to urinary infection so drink adequate fluids upto 2 litres to prevent urine infection.Enlargement of spleen is seen in cases of infection. So consult your doctor to rule out any infection.
