I had a colposcopy last week, the doctor did the scraping at 12 o'clock where a white spot appeared and a needle biopsy (2 or 3 of them) why would he do that, I have been researching on line but I have not read about needle aspiration during a colposcopy. I am anxious should get the results this week...thought I would inquire.
I understand the issue. Most of the time a biopsy taken during colposcopy is a punch biopsy. A needle biopsy is needed only when there is a growth or a cyst. So please reconfirm with your doctor about the type of biopsy and also about the type of lesion.
Please do not worry so much. The commonest finding in biopsies is mainly infection or inflammation.
