Is Noncalcified Pulmonary Nodule In The Right Middle Lobe A Concren?

3 mm noncalcified pulmonary nodule in the right middle lobe was found on a CTSCAN last month. Wondered if I should be concerned. Just went through removal of right kidney due to Renal Cell Carcinoma. Scheduled for surgery for Hyper-parathyroid May 19, 2014.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
I can understand your situation.
Since you are patient of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) , possibility of malignant spread is more.
RCC us very notorious in spread. Lung metastasis can be seen as nodule.
Non calcification is the feature of malignant nodule.
So we need to rule out malignancy first.
I advice you to consult pulmonologist and get done bronchoscopy and BAL (Bronchoalveolar lavage) analysis to rule out malignant nodule.
The size of the nodule is very small (3mm) for biopsy. So, if bronchoscopy is negative than we need to wait and watch for the progress of the nodule.
Six monthly CT thorax is advised in your case.
Possibility of malignant spread is more.
