Hi. There is a great deal of overlap of sensory cutaneous nerves supplying the scalp. However, depending on the laceration that you sustained, it is possible that an area of the scalp has been rendered insensate due to disruption of the sensory nerves. If you are otherwise feeling well, then I do not think that this is of any significance. It may improve over time, but it may result in a permanent area of numbness. Either way it should not result in any long-lasting medical problem for you.

Well congratulation for getting sobered up as it seems like a pretty bad cut injury to the head.

You don't need to worry for the numbness as its likely to happen after this kind of traumatic brain injury. It'll be there for a while also (several days sometimes weeks depending on the force of the impact).

I believe all other routine work-ups must be fine since you havn't mentioned them here. So for the time being just avoid indulging into any strenuous activity (driving/jogging/outdoor sports/handling heavy machinery etc.)

Also follow all the instructions given by the hospital and watch-out for those warning symptoms of head injury (as they must've mentioned to you)
