Is it true that by taking olive oil, such as precedent in Greece, the lowest heart disease country, one can raise the positive cholestrol, LDL? and suffer less from heart disease? thanks.

I am not sure if this is lifestyle. People in Greece have always been raised on cold pressed oils and have avoid trans fats in their diet. If you remember in the eighty everyone switched to the low fat foods thinking they were doing good things for their health. Margarine and vegatable oils were replaced from lard etc... However, we now know that hydrogenated oils are very bad for arteries. I have enclosed an article link below that you might find interesting. It talks about how bad cholesterol is actually a myth. Cholesterol naturally found in the body is not bad it is actually a protective mechanism to repair arteries that have become nicked from dehydration. I thought it was a very interesting assessement.
