Is Pelvic Inflammatory Disease Mostly Caused Due To STD S?
My 25 great old daughter has recently been told by Dr she has pelvic inflammatory disease. How can u distinguish this from endometriosis ? With endometriosis can only infertal woman get it? Also is pelvic inflammatory disease sextant transmitted and in most cases an std?
Pelvic inflammatory disease usually occurs due to the transmission of bacteria from your vagina to the uterus resulting in an infection of the reproductive system. It is different from endometriosis because endometriosis is not an infection.
Endometriosis is usually detected when women complain of infertility, so it is seen in infertile women but this is not mandatory.
Yes, PID does occur due to sexually transmitted bacteria, but is not categorised as an STD.
Best wishes.
