General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is better to get physically examined, evaluated for illness & get treated before you plan to start a family.

Tegretol (Carbamazepine) increases the risk of causing neural tube defects, it cannot be taken on a regular basis in pregnancy. Though it is given when required. Amitriptyline is not the drug of choice for pregnant women. There are other safer medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
