Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi My doctor put me on micronor after being on a combination pill for 20 years. I took a micronor for three weeks and skipped the last week of pills because I thought they were placebo like in my combination pill. I just found out that they are not placebo. I took my last Micronor pill last Saturday. It is 6 days later, Friday and I have not started my period but I had intercourse last Sunday. I just started a new pack today since I threw my old pack away. Could i have been ovulating on day 22 of a 28 day cycle and now I ll be pregnant and that s why I have not gotten my period yet? Or does the Micronor work completely differently and I would not get a period like when i was on the conbo pill.
Pills are not always 100% safe. Although this is not very likely, it is however possible that pregnancy occurs so you had one risky intercourse and if this happened during your ovulation period it is possible that pregnancy occur, but considering your description of it, this risk is minor. To be sure you should do pregnancy test which can be done when period is missed or 8 days after the targeted intercourse so at this point it would be accurate enough to detect possible pregnancy. Standard urine test would be enough for it since this is almost 99% accurate.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
