Is Putting A Pacemaker Safe While Suffering From Fluid In The Lungs?
I have A-fib, the signs of heart failure and fluid is gathering around my lungs. The Doctor has looked at the other organs and sources of out see infection. there O K The thought is now to put in a pacemaker. My questions: is tis appropriate and what happens to the fluid?
I Hello, I do understand your concerns here. Based on the limited information you have provided I would try to give you a clear answer. The basic principal behind placing a pacemaker is to support your heart to contract efficiently. On the other hand, your next complaint of fluid around the lungs often called pleural effusion can happen due to variety of reasons. The fluid often accumulates between two layers of outer covering of the lung. However, be assured that it doesn't have anything to interfere with the pacemaker as it is placed in contact with the heart muscles. If the fluid level in the chest is high a procedure called thoracocentesis will be performed where fluid will be drained. In conclusion, pacemaker and fluid in the lung have no significant connection.
