Is Radioactive Therapy The Only Means For Curing Hyperthyroidism?

My sister is diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and she is under medications since last 4 months and now her FT3 and FT4 is in normal limit but TSH is lowered down,doctor suggested to do radioactiveiodine therapy and I want to know about this therapy treatment and if possible some other alternative

Radioactive iodine is a permanent and more reliable cure for hyperthyroidism.
This method treats hyperthyroidism.
Depending upon dose ,radio active iodine can destroy total or some part of the thyroid.
Radioactive iodine is available in an oral pill, so you won't need to be hospitalized. After you take the pill, your doctor will recommend drinking lots of fluids to prompt the release of the radioactive iodine through your urine.

Radioactive iodine only affects your thyroid gland. Thyroid cells are the main cells in the body that can absorb iodine, so there is very little radiation exposure to the rest of your body's cells. When the thyroid cells absorb the radiation, they are damaged or destroyed.
Other alternative ways are Anti thyroid medications and surgery.
Since she has beem taking antithyroid medications,i would suggest you may go ahead with the stand in doctor's advice.
