Is Red Yeast Rice Intake Safe For A Person Allergic To Statins?
I have a reaction to Statins...hand and leg cramps. I had a reaction to every cholesterol med the doctor gave me. One made me extremely constipated, one made me very dizzy and the other, although not a statin, was worse than the statins. Is it safe for me to take Red Yeast Rice. I need to lower my cholesterol
Unfortunately, if you have side effects from statins you are going to experience them with red yeast as well as red yeast contains statins. So it would be similar symptoms as if you would take statins even if you take red yeast.
Please talk to your doctor and see the chance of having other alternatives to treat high lipids.
Diet with low cholesterol and healthy eating and regular exercise might be helpful extra measures for high lipids.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Antoneta Zotaj, General & Family Physician
