Hi Doctor,I have irregular periods and I was taking metformin for the past 4 months. But last month my periods did not occur.I consulted another doctor . She prescribed me Registrone for 5 days and after that Novelon in 3 cycles. I have PCOD and want to conceive atleast after 3 or 4 months. Am I in the right path now?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Hope you have taken Regestrone tablets after ruling out the possibility of pregnancy. PCOD usually presents with hormonal imbalance, insulin resistance leading to irregular periods, anovulation, infertility, etc. So, Novelon containing hormones can help in regularization of hormonal imbalance, Metformin helps in decreasing the insulin resistance. Along with this you have to do physical exercise which is very much important in PCOD. Physical exercise like brisk walking for daily 30 to 45 minutes helps in regularization of hormones. After the three months treatment of Novelon, you please go for repeating ultrasound once. If PCOD regressed, then you can plan for pregnancy with your doctor's advice. So, you can continue the treatment prescribed by your doctor.
Hope I have answered your query and I will be happy to answer any further follow-up queries.
Take care.
