Is Removal Of Breast The Only Choice For A Tumor Deep Inside Without Reconstruction Options ?

My sister has a tumor deep in her breast and the doctor said it is cancerous. They are removing her breast in 1 week. The doctor also said the can t do reconstruction surgery because of the operation they will be doing. Can you tell me what your thoughts are about what I have told you?

Hi and welcome to HCM. Thanks for the query.
My thoughts are that reconstruction is the last thing that you and your sister should think about at this point. it is important that tumor is removed completely and that there is no recurrence or infiltration of surrounding structures. Reconstruction can be done in future. This is obviously seriously progresses cancer and radical surgery may be necessary. This excludes same act reconstruction.
Wish you good health. Regards
