Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a stent fir going on 2 weeks. My urine is almost coff colored... Why? He was going to remove the stent last week , but put me on a antibiotic instead. Why is the urine this color. Also, I m having anxiety attacks about removing the stent with me awake. He didn t leave the string on it.. I have to have the cysto method of removal..is it as painful as everyone is saying to get it removed this method
Blood in urine causes coffee colored urine and it lasts for 3-5 days after stent placement. But it won't last for 2 weeks. You need to be evaluated for coffee colored urine. Stent removal causes mild pain. The pain is less and tolerance is better with flexible cystoscopy method of stent removal. Still you may have pain and blood in urine for 3-4days.
Please do consult your urologist and report your urine color. He will check for any. 1) Urinary tract infection 2) Large stone causing obstruction 3) Stent infection
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
