Is Sed Rate Of 67 A Cause For Concern?

I am a 54 year old female. I have PMR and am getting help with the sedate rate thru a Rhuematologist. So far my sedate rate has been 97 to the last one at 67. I am on 15 mgs of prednisone. I just had a TAB test done on Friday and results are negative for GCA. But for the last 4 months, I am fatiqued, easily get winded and just feels like crap in general. Could this be still do to trying to get the PMR under control or is there something else going on I should be concerned about. Kim

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

* As per my clinical experience, the ESR ( erythrocyte sedimentation rate ) is quite non specific and low sensitive test suggesting inflammation level.

* It is the symptomatic improvement which matters rather than ESR changes on clinical grounds.

* As there is easy fatigue and crap feeling in general, addition of multi vitamins with minerals are mandatory for the condition better control.

* Avoidance of smoking, stress are very vital part of recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
