Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Today i fell down on a cement floor and my wrist caught my fall. Now there is a lump and a red area right where my hand ends in the middle of my wrist. It doesn't really hurt to move my hand but if any pressure is put on the lump I get a bad sharp pain that almost takes my breath away, what should I do ? Could it be broken or just rest it ?
hi, Thank you for posting your query in Health Care Magic, I understand your concern. By your history i think that there is a possibility that you might have broken your bone . It is better if you get an X-ray done of the wrist and the forearm. The swelling could also be due to soft tissue injury and if it is so the swelling along with redness should subside within 2-3 days by keeping the hand immobilized. Taking analgesics and applying ice to area should relieve you of your pain. Ibuprofen / aceclofenac should be helfull in your case.
I suggest you to take the X-ray immediately and consult with an orthopedician for further management , he might suggest you to wear a sling, or might put a cast if necessary. Hope this helps. Wish you good health, write back to us if you need further assistance.
