Is Smoking Advisable While Recovering From Surgical Removal Of Mucocele?
Hi, I had two mucoceles removed about 2 & a half weeks ago which required 6 dissolvable stitches (3 on each incision). Since then, 4 of them have fallen out. Is it safe to smoke if I wash my mouth out with salt water or antiseptic mouthwash after every cigarette? Or would I have to wait until the last two drop out?
As per your complain firstly I would like to tell you that smoking can no way be encouraged by a doctor as it has hazardous effects like lung and mouth cancer..
As you have undergone surgery and healing is under process in this case if you smoke the heat and chemicals produced by cigarette smoke leads to shrinkage of the blood vessels in the mouth leading to reduced blood supply..
The reduced blood supply leads to delay in the healing process and can also cause irritation and inflammation at the site of surgery..
I would suggest you not to smoke ever but if not at least avoid till the healing is complete..
Hope your query is solved..
