Is Spotting In 2nd Month Of Pregnancy Concerning?

Hello Doctor,

My wife is currently 2 months pregnant with her lmp of October 20, 2010. Yesterday she found two drops of red blood from the vaginal area. This happened around 5 days ago, but this is not continuous. After a while when she checked, there was no signs of bleeding. Is it really serious?

Hi there, I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

1 ) First of all do not panic.

2 ) The occasional bleeding that she is getting can be due to retro chorionic bleeding, meaning bleeding behind the placenta.

3 ) I will suggest you to get USG done to confirm the diagnosis and amount of bleeding behind the placenta.

4 ) As support to pregnancy and treatment of bleeding, I will suggest you the following -

She should take bed rest.
Be quiet, and relaxed.
Use of Micronized natural progesterone tablets or injection, Human chorionic gonadotropin injection, vitamin C, Tranexamic acid will be of help.
You can take help of your treating doctor for the doses and prescription for these medicines.

I hope this answer helps you. Thanks.
May God bless you with a bundle of joy.
Yours
Dr. Purushottam Neurgaonkar
