Is Strep Infection Of A 10 Year Old A Cause For Concern?

my daugter is 10 years old and was just diagnosed with strep. she was running a fever yesterday but now has 96.5. Is there a cause for concern? Theyprescribed amoxicillin but the pharmacist says its a cousin to omnicef and the urgent care clinic closed so we have to wait till morning.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
strptococcal sore throat is treated with penicillin or erythromycin.
Treatment as well as prevention is important because it predisposes to Rheumatic fever in future.
You can wait till morning to see your doctor.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
Take care
