Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Sudden Blood Pressure Drop While On Anti-hypertensives During Pregnancy A Concern?
My obgyn prescribed me Procardia extended release 90 mg once a day and Labetalol 200 mg 3x a day to treat Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. I ve had side effects from the Labetalol previously but not with the combination and now, today, my blood pressure keeps dropping real low. Not more than 30 minutes ago, it had actually dropped down to 82/35 while I was standing to cook dinner. It went up to 103/63 after sitting down for a second, though. Should I be worried?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
That sounds like postural hypotension. BP as low as 82/35 is not good. I will advise you see the doctor as soon as possible to reevaluate your anti-hypertensive drugs. Dose adjustments and when to take drugs may be evaluated as well.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Mbuomboh Veranso
