Is Surgery Necessary For Carpel Tunnel Syndrome?

I have been diagnosed with carpal tunnel per nerve test. It was painful when I first went to the doctor. Surgery was to be 6-8 weeks out and I thought it would get worse so it is scheduled for July 21. However, I am wondering how much worse it can get. It is not painful just the tips of my fingers and a shock when I hit the flat of my hand occasionally. Should I have the surgery?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

If you are symptomatic and experience pain and numbness surgery will be the best option.

In asymptomatic cases you can opt for conservative management. Physiotherapy will be helpful for symptomatic relief.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
