Is Surgery Risky For Men Having Aortic Stenosis With 30% Heart Efficiency?
Hi Doctor My Father has sever Aortic Stenosis with 30% heart efficecency He has been suggested to undergo Aortic Valve Replacement surgery But his platelet count is as low only 77000 what is the risk of surgery in this kind of situation? what needs to eb done
The surgical procedure is risky for people with cardiac problems mostly because of anesthetic complications.
His platelets are also on the lower side and thus there will chances for bleeding also.
Your surgeon probably will transfuse the platelets prior to the surgery and do the procedure under high risk as it is an emergency and life saving one.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
