Hello
Thank you for posting at HCM.
Swelling in the foot can be of many types. Two types of pathological swelling in foot is defined, one is pitting , other one is non pitting. If the swelling on your foot is of pitting type then we need to carry out CBC,
Lipid Profile, cardiac
troponin tests, KFT, LFT, 2D ECho, and ECG to confirm the cardiac pathology, isolate it and then treat accordingly.
If its a non pitting kind of swelling and is painful, you can use any over the counter
NSAID O/M and tablet available to get relief.
Also one more thing I would like to point out is, as you said you just had surgery, if you are immobile due to that, then the swelling can just be a physiological swelling which will disappear once you become mobile again. Only after thorough medical physical examination and a battery of tests can we diagnose a pedal swelling.
Please see your physician if you can, or put your finger on the swelling for 20 secs and then release it, take a photograph before putting the finger and after releasing it and have a chat with our expert docs at HCM, to rule out cardiac cause.
Hope to have informed you sufficiently
Feel free to ask a new question in case of any queries.
