Is Swelling In The Foot And Leg Associated With Shingles?
I was diagnosed with shingles on 11/13/17. Took an anti viral for 1 week. Started Gabapentin (300 mg. 3 x day). and gradually got swelling in left foot and leg (the shingles side). Gabapentin gradually increased to 600 mg. 3 x day) Still have the swelling and am getting off Gabapentin and starting Nortriptyline (25 mg. once a day). My big question and concern is the size of my foot and leg. Is this associated with shingles? If so, will change of medications bring the swelling down? It has now been eight weeks. Swelling is part of the body's inflammatory response to the viral infection and it should resolve.
You may want to consider using an anti-inflammatory pain killer such as Naproxen or Ibuprofen medicine. Not for pain relief but to help reduce the inflammation that is causing the swelling.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
