General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my surgical experience, the swelling of the foot and ankle post steel rods insertion indicate possible cellulitis stage with underlying injury, compression of soft tissue (if there is plaster cast device ) or else.

* Supportive intravenous or oral antibiotics of broad-spectrum coverage, anti-inflammatory medications and leg elevation will help to reduce the swelling over a period of time.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
