Is Taking 3 Benzonatate Dose Instead Of 1 A Cause For Concern?
My daughter took 3 doses of benzonatate by accident when she should have taken one. She is experiencing a tingly sensation in her legs. Like the fell asleep. Should we be concerned? The benzonatate was prescribed because she was diagnosed with the virus at a local hospital this morning. The instructions were for her to take the benzonatate at night and some other prescription during the day. She messed up and took the 3 doses of benzonatate. Thank you, Karen Everett YYYY@YYYY
Benzonatate relieves a cough by acting directly on the lungs and the breathing passages. It may also act via the cough center in the brain. An overdose of benzonatate can be fatal, especially to a child.
You need to seek medical attention promptly if you observe any of the overdose symptoms such as numbness in the mouth or throat, feeling restless or very sleepy, tremors or shaking, seizure (convulsions), slow heart rate, weak pulse, fainting, and slow breathing.
It would be advisable to seek medical attention as she is experiencing certain symptoms of an overdose like tingly sensation in her legs.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
