Is Taking Norethisterone Helpful Even After Menstruation Begins?

I have been prescribed norethisterone and took 1 tablet yesterday and 1 today but ive started my period and didnt think i was due on till the weekend. Im due to travel sat i guess its now too late to delay my period and is there any point continuing with the tablets?
