Is Taking Pain Medication Like Oxycodone During Pregnancy Harmful?
Hi. I hate to admit I was taking pain meds during the first part of my pregnancy. . (Hydrcodone mostly, oxycodone a few times) Up until about 4 1/2 months or so, I wasn t on them to heavily but enough that im worried. I am now thirty weeks pregnant and i slipped up and took two 7.5 loritabs a few days ago... but thats the first ive done in a month in a half.. yes i am highly ashamed..my dr doesnt know and im afraid to tell her due to the fact they could take my baby after delivery. . As far as my appts go everything looks fine so far... im just curious if these things will show up if they run a drug screen on my baby after delivery and what are his chances of withdrawal. ..i dnt plan on touching any kind of drugs anymore especially throughout the rest of my pregnancy. .. should these last two and a half months be enough time for them to clear my babies system before birth?
Pain killers like oxycodone and hydrocodone can cause serious harm to your growing baby and can show up on urine tests it taken recently. The metabolites of either of these pain killers should not show up in your urine reports after delivery, but I strongly warn you against taking any pain killers from this point on as they can do more harm to your baby than you can imagine.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
