Is The Abortion Successful With The Bleeding?

I missed my period on the 24th of Jan, did a pregnancy test and it was positive. I had intercourse on the 6th of January. I have taken two misoprotol tabs vaginally and one bucally. They bleeding was heavy for the fist day and now I mostly have light bleeding. Does it mean the abortion was successful?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi.

I've gone through your query. I can understand your anxiety.

Your history says you have taken 2 doses of early abortion medication, tab. Misoprostol . Following which heavy bleeding can occur for 2weeks.

I advice you to do a USG pelvis to rule out retained products if any. Also next menses may be delayed by 1-2weeks.

Consult your gynaecologist for further assistance.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Get well soon.

Regards,
Dr. Yogapriya V, General and family physician.
