Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 68 year old male. I am 6''4" and weigh 83kgs. I walk about 50kms a week (6kms each day and longer on the weekend. My resting heart rate is 53 bpm and when pushed on steep hills this gets to around 90bpm. I think my blood pressure is 125 / 65. I am planning to walk 250kms over 3 weeks in the UK in Sept. How does my fitness rate against men of my own age. How typical am I?
Hi, 53 is not normal, it's low, you should get one thyroid test and renal function test done. Do you have chest pain or so? are you on any drugs? do u have any symptoms like giddiness, shortness of breath, blackouts etc. you will probably need one holter monitoring test which will monitor your and other details of heart rate and tell the future risk of heart block.
