Is There A Better Choice Than Statin Prescribed To Lower Cholestrol And Should I Be Concerned For Lipitor And Type II Diabetes?
I have type 2 diabetes and my Dr has prescribed a statin drug to lower my cholesterol. There has been a lot of sqwack concerning Lipitor and Type 2 diabetes of late.. Is this true of the generics for Lipitor? is there a better choice than statins?
Statins are safe and effective hypolipidemic drugs in a diabetic. It also reduces the cardiovascular risks like coronary artery disease and heart attacks. I would use fenofibrates in my patients if he is not able to tolerate staines.
