I have beed diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and have had far too many connective tissue surgeries. (Lung, back, knees, wrist, shoulder...ect.) Now, although I have been slim all my life, I have been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. Many of my family members have type 2 diabetes, but have had life-long weight control issues. I have not. Is there a "connection" between EDS and Type 2 Diabetes?
Dear sir i can understand your concern. As you rightly said In Ehlers Danlos Syndrome there will be problems with connective tissue and joints. But There is a very rare Chance for direct relationship between EDS and Diabetes. In your scenario there is a positive family history of diabetes which is an independent risk factor for diabetes in you. I am having 10 patients registered with my clinic who are having EDS with Diabetes. They are all doing well The good news is diabetes is preventable condition. You need to follow some rules to keep diabetes away 1.mild exercise, because in your condition excessive exercise is not advisable. 2.you need to really focus on diet to keep your BMI below 24.5 3.try to have a stress free life and also consider checking for diabetes once yearly Relax everything will be fine.
