Is there a connection between Rheumatoid Arthritis and Marfan Syndrome? My husband has severe arthritis and my son was born with pectus. He had a detached retina and a heart murmur. He is 27 years old. My father had pectus but did not have any heart issues or symptoms of Marfan.
No there is no direct co relation between Marfan syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis and both are two different disease process. Marfan syndrome is caused by collagen synthesis problem which is a structural protein and Rheumatoid arthritis is caused by autoimmune antibodies.
