Is There A Link Between Asbestos And Chronic Sinusitis?
My husband has suffered from sinusitis for many years and also has a large cyst in his sinus to which he was referred to an ENT for removal several years ago, but decided against it. We are in the process of filing a VA disability claim for many problems with his knee, back, etc. and he mentioned that he was exposed to asbestos during his job. They ask if he has any health problems due to the exposure. I have read online that there is a link between asbestos and chronic sinusitis. What do you think?

Is There A Link Between Asbestos And Chronic Sinusitis?
Hello, Long term exposure to asbestos or any other pollutants can cause sinusitis and other respiratory problems. If there is a cyst in the sinus, it has to be excised or at least a biopsy has to be done to make sure that it is not a serious lesion like cancer. Consult an ENT specialist and get evaluated. You can opt for newer techniques like FESS(functional endoscopic sinus surgery). Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr. Shinas Hussain
