Is There A Permanent Solution For Retracted Ear Membrane With Hole In Ear Due To Fluid Accumulation ?
My wife had retracted ear membrane 2 years back , her tonsils had been removed but situation did not improve, however after some months there had been accumulation of liquid in ear which got froozen to cause a hole in her ear, she was again operated 4 months back still having difficulites and disturbing syndrome in her ear. what shall i do?
Retracted ear drum is due to dysfunction of Eustachian tubes which in turn can be due to sinusitis, deviated nasal septum. Forced fluid from nose and pharynx due to over-blowing of nose, cold and viral might have caused the fluid development in the middle ear; the raised pressure causing perforation of eardrum.
Since there is a history of ear surgery yet the problem of disturbing in is going on I would advise you the following: *Audiometry. * CT scan of the mastoids and sinuses * Relevant tests of blood * Second opinion of another ENT Surgeon well trained in ear problems and all these will help to get an exact cause and get treated accordingly. Avoid blowing of nose. Use nasal decongestant nasal drops.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
