Is There A Possibility Of Stones In The Salivary Glands?
I am wondering about my salivary glands. I have an ENT appt next week to see about salivary stones. My PCP said that is what these globs were. These come into the top of my mouth and have been as big as 5 mm in diameter and when they pass there is a relief of ear pain. Can such a large stone be from one of the minor salivary glands / ducts?
I have gone through your query and can understand..
As per your complain a 5mm big stone seems to be inappropriate from a minor salivary gland or its duct and there is a possibility that the stones is popped out from a major salivary gland and as there was ear ache there is a possibility that it was in the duct of Parotid gland.... You should consult an Oral Physician or an Oral Surgeon and get evaluated and along with clinical examination he can also advise you MRI of the glands to rule out for more stones or the exact cause of the 5 mm big glob.. As of now you can chew sugar free chewing gum as it will increase saliva flow as well as drink plenty of water..
Hope this information helps..
