Hi,I am Dr. Senthilnathan Subramanian (Ayurveda Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
** 1. since ACL [anterior cruciate ligament] is an important ligament for proper movement, thus any injury/tear to ACL can cause knee instability. [which might need surgical correction] 2. Research has shown that women involved in sports are more likely to have ACL injuries than men [females typically perform athletic movements with greater knee valgus angles. A greater amount of stress is placed on the ACL] 3. non-surgical treatment for ACL rupture is "conservative management", and includes physical therapy along with using a knee brace, [thus sports with cutting and twisting motions are discouraged], but if she is willing to frequently participate in such sports, surgery is best indicated. 4. Do not put weight on affected side. 5. After an injury/tear, the knee is never "normal." thus for expert guidance kindly consult an orthopedic Surgeon or Sport Medicine Specialist for necessary instructions and rehabilitation.
